Have you ever seen anyone, especially a woman, cross a mirror and not look at themselves in it? Well that’s the power of it and maybe that’s why we all say, “mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the prettiest of them all”.
Hello all my beautiful readers, I’m Radhika Garg, and here I’m writing my first blog ever knowing fully well that I’m getting into some serious work here without actually knowing what to do. I’ve so much to share with you all, so I thought why not start from here. Let me start by introducing myself a little. I’m 25 years old and an interior designer by profession. It has been nearly 4 years that I’ve been doing this, and trust me it is so exciting to see your imagination come to life. I’m sure you can very well figure out that I’m here to share my designing knowledge with you. With the little help that I can give, I’m going to guide you through the process of making your house into a home.
Since we have already started with the topic of mirrors, let’s go into more details about them. If we talk about the ancient times, there was no such thing as a mirror; people would see their reflections in a lake or water body and mirrors came into existence much later. However, mirrors now play a very important role in our everyday lives, and specifically in decorating a house too. They can be used in so many different ways such as wall panelings, fancy ones to decorate a wall or simply just using them in a corner of a room to fill up the space. We have a variety of mirrors available today in different shapes and colors such as clear, brown, rose gold, antique, black and so on. Mirrors placed face to face give an infinite reflection that can be used in an area to play around with different elements such as placement of a console or an artifact or a painting. A very useful and lesser-known fact about mirrors is that wherever they are placed, they always expand the area and make it look bigger, which is why whenever we have a small area to work with, we prefer doing a mirror wall paneling or placing a huge mirror. Mirrors play a crucial role when it comes to Vastu. Many times we get stuck with the wrong Vastu in a house and there are not many ways to rectify it but then comes a mirror. A problem that can’t be solved with anything else can be easily corrected with the use of a mirror in the right place, while also beautifying the space.
A little advice, always make sure that the wall on which the mirror is placed should be basic and simple. It will enhance that area, become a highlight of the place and also hide any negative factors of the area. A major advantage of using mirrors is that they can be placed at any height, whereas other elements such as artifacts or paintings should only be placed at eye level. Overall, I would like to end by saying that mirrors are definitely a blessing for us in more than one way. I hope this helps you in using mirrors in a better and different way. Do share your thoughts and ideas with me.
